High Point Market to Host First DecorBoss Meet & Mentor Chats

Private DecorBoss Facebook group members to attend largest international home furnishings show to ask successful designers questions to help grow their design businesses

Members of DecorBoss, a Facebook group focused on the business of interior design, are invited to attend the first-ever, private business solution roundtable talks with some of the most successful designers in the home decor industry. In a private setting, design mentees will be able to comfortably ask mentors questions and receive answers to their most important design business questions.

Among the mentors are television celebrity interior designers and real estate gurus, The Property Brothers, award-winning designers, publication editors, reporters, writers, and product designers. DecorBoss mentees include Dream Room Competition Winners, American Institute of Architecture (AIA) members, American Society of Interior Design (ASID) members, and award-winning designers.

Discussions and roundtables will be held in various locations within the 180 buildings during the International Fair for Furniture and Interior in High Point, North Carolina Saturday, October 13 through Monday, October 15.

To attend one of the roundtables as a mentee, designers should respond to the call for designer questions within either of the two DecorBoss Facebook groups. The first group, called DecorBoss, is for working designers with more than three years of experience. The second group, Future DecorBoss, helps students, interns, and those interested in becoming a successful interior designer. Registered High Point Market attendee designers are invited to join the groups and respond to the group posts here:

“Mostly comprised of females and solo entrepreneurs, our DecorBoss members, and interior designers have many questions about how to best grow their businesses,” said Christi Tasker, DecorBoss founder. “Given the lack of structured business education in this industry, it is critical that the 66,500 designers in today’s job market obtain proven advice from others that have successfully gone before them.”

Tasker went on to say, “Furthering industry growth and ensuring annual salaries continue to increase to exceed inflation in today’s 21st-century e-society affects a large supply chain of American workers. Without designers, small businesses and manufacturers along with their entire supply chains could be at risk in a society where small businesses are increasingly being crushed by big box suppliers. DecorBoss members will have access to solutions to avoid common design business pitfalls.”

DecorBoss members have access to celebrity designers and over 200 successful interior designers within the proven business system. Any designer or would-be designer can join either of the two DecorBoss Facebook groups. Once they are members, they can ask questions of a group mentor moderator. Moderators will then answer the questions with insights from the group’s 75 qualified mentors—industry experts who are committed to paying it forward. Answers to questions are provided within the group, in a scheduled personalized regional complimentary business consultation, or through DecorBossTV, an online video channel exclusive to group members.

“According to a 2017 report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median income for designers has barely changed in the past few years. Sadly, with a bachelor’s degree, the median annual income for interior designers was $51,500 or $27.76 per hour,” said Tasker. “And that is before the student loans, licenses, permits, continuing education, and state and national registrations that are critical in this industry. Thankfully, our first sponsor, , has found a way to pay it forward and elevate the skills of interior designers and awareness of the important services they provide. Our only request  is that designers who take advantage of this opportunity continue to create interesting spaces and educate the next generation of design professionals.”
